Giffordslist is a free resource sharing website for nonprofits. Administered by the Gifford Foundation, the goals include offering opportunities for nonprofits, businesses and individuals to exchange resources, information and services, thereby engendering collaboration and stronger, more efficient organizations that are better able to serve their constituencies. The need for resource sharing has been articulated for years by many in the nonprofit community, Giffordslist itself has been created and perfected in response to feedback heard from over 30 nonprofits in a beta testing period.
Here’s just a sampling of what the over 400 registered users of Giffordslist are sharing: computers, file cabinets, office furniture, national grant opportunities and deadlines, job sharing positions, grant writing services, fundraising events, workshops and trainings … and many more. You may sell items, post needs, request information - we encourage everyone to think outside the box.
In the summer of 2010, as requested, an events calendar was added. Organizations are encouraged to place their major events on the calendar as early as possible to avoid conflicts between fundraisers, galas, golf tournaments, workshops, trainings, etc.
You may not even be aware of all the assets you have, and what can be shared! Of primary importance is not to simply register as many organizations as possible, but to encourage fruitful usage. It will only work if it is used; the more it is used the better it works.
