The Southside Neighborhood Action Group (SNAG) is a community based initiative established to unite local agencies and organizations to revitalize a targeted area within the Southside area of Syracuse. The geographic boundaries are East Castle Street to the North, Brighton Avenue to the South, Route I-81 to the East and Midland Avenue to the West.
Central to SNAG is a mini-grant program that awards residents up to $5,000 for approved home improvements. To date, nearly 70 homes have been improved through SNAG mini-grant funding.
In addition, SNAG coordinates the Onondaga Earth Corps, a summer employment program for youth focusing on landscaping and urban forestry.
SNAG is staffed by a program coordinator and executive assistant who oversee the distribution, review and award of mini-grant applications. This is done in conjunction with a Resident Advisory Committee, which is made up of residents who are members of area neighborhood organizations.
